SPIT (Suicide Prevention and Intervention Training) is a half-day workshop designed to equip participants with the skills to support individuals at risk of suicide. Tailored for the public, including members of the diaspora and immigrant communities, SPIT provides practical tools for recognizing signs of suicide and creating safety plans that respect diverse cultural perspectives.
While healthcare professionals frequently use similar techniques, the training is open to anyone aged 14 or older, regardless of their professional background or life experience. This inclusivity ensures the training resonates with community members, leaders, and advocates who play vital roles in immigrant and diaspora networks.
Training costs may vary by location, but scholarships or community sponsorships may be available to make the program more accessible for those who wish to attend.
