As of right now, I take only Highmark Blue Shield and I am out of network for other insurance panels. But I do provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance carrier for out-of-network reimbursement. Superbills provide all of the information that your insurance company will need to consider reimbursing you for said services. Many insurance policies offer partial reimbursement to see an out-of-network therapist. If you do have insurance, I urge you to call your provider for their out-of-network policy. Then I can provide you with the proper paperwork, an invoice that you can submit to your carrier for insurance reimbursement.  If you would like to see whether or not part or all of our sessions would be covered under your  out-of-network benefits, you should call you insurance company using the phone number on the back of your insurance card and ask:

1) Do I have behavioral health benefits? If so…

2) If I would like to see someone who is not in-network, would I be able to do that? (If your insurance company needs it, my National Provider ID (NPI) is 1205449873)

3) Do I have to meet a deductible? How much is my deductible for out-of-network providers?

4) How many sessions do I get per year? Are there limits to my coverage?

5) What is the process for getting reimbursed for my sessions?

The length of my sessions depend on the type of service you receive:

– An individual psychotherapy session is 45 minutes.

– A couples session is 50 minutes.

Family Therapy is 50 minutes. 

– The Mindfulness Group is 60 minutes.

When completing Trauma-Focused CBT or Prolonged Exposure, therapy sessions will range from 55-60 minutes. There may be times during our work together in which longer or crisis sessions are needed and we will work to find a solution together if this becomes a need.

When you’re looking for a therapist you will hear the word “fit” come up….a lot. Being a good fit is something to look for in any relationship. In the therapeutic relationship it means does it feel like I can understand you and will be helpful for you. Do our personalities match? Does my style suit you? Sometimes we can discover this out during the initial at no cost 15-minute consultation, other times it may take a few sessions. If I am not right for you, I will try my best to refer you to another practitioner. I am a firm believer in referring out if I do not have the skills or cannot meet your needs.

I am a therapist not a psychiatrist and therefore I do not prescribe medication. However, in some cases medication can be valuable in combination with psychotherapy. If you and I determine that you could benefit from meeting with a psychiatrist, I can assist with referring you to someone in our trusted network of referrals.

There is no specific time frame when working on personal development and growth. Depending on the type of changes that you are looking to make and the variety of issues that you are attempting to work on, therapy can last from a few sessions to much longer. My goal is to help you to get to a place that you’re able to cope and implement the tools given outside of the therapy room. Collaboratively, you and I will assess your progress in therapy. Once you decide that you no longer want therapy we will prepare for termination. You can always come back even if you have terminated therapy previously.

There are many benefits to engaging in therapy. Some of these include: gaining a better understanding of oneself, figuring out life, career goals and prospects, improving personal relationships, developing coping skills, enhancing problem-solving abilities, making positive changes to problem behaviors, and boosting self-esteem and confidence. If you are committed to making personal changes for greater life satisfaction, then you are ready to seek therapy. Many people believe that they need to be suffering from “mental illness” or serious “psychological problems” in order for therapy to be appropriate. This is not the case, anyone can benefit from therapy. Some even choose to come in for insight only.

Yes. I do not provide custody evaluations nor custody recommendations. As a strong believer in someone personally deciding to attend therapy, I do not work with people court ordered for therapy. However, I do provide psychological evaluation for asylum cases. I also do not provide therapy services for schizophrenia or psychotic disorders.

I work with teenagers, young adults and older adults in individual, couples and family therapy. I work with a variety of problems including trauma, depression, anxiety disorders, life adjustment issues, college adjustment, and child/adolescent transition difficulties. I specialize in the treatment of trauma, mood disorders and relationship issues. When working with adolescents under the age of 14, caregiver involvement is required because much of our work will include the family. I love meeting with people, and I know how much work occurs outside of my office with the love and support of loved ones.

I accept payments cash, checks, PayPal, Cash App, Venmo, direct wiring, and Zelle.

My cancellation policy requires a 48 hour notice of cancellation. Cancellation with less than 48 hours notice requires payment in full. If you are unable to attend your session in person, you can always do it via phone or video.

Confidentiality is one of the most important components in therapy, as successful therapy requires a high degree of trust. With few exceptions, the highly sensitive material that is discussed between you and your therapist will not be shared with anyone else without your permission. For example, your therapist may share information with someone on your healthcare team (your Physician, Naturopath, Attorney), but by law will only be allowed to release this information after obtaining your written consent. In addition, therapists are legally mandated to make certain disclosures. These are three exceptions to confidentiality which I am required by law to disclose:

1. Wanting to harm yourself or others

2. Child abuse (harm to those under the age of 18)

3. Subpoena from a judge

In the state of Pennsylvania, adolescents 14 and older must consent to therapy. When working with children and adolescents, there is also a level of privacy for things that are shared in with me. We will talk about this more at your initial session.

Yes. I do offer treatment sessions for psychotherapy by telephone, Facetime, or Skype if you are out of Pennsylvania or are unable to attend your regularly scheduled sessions. You will be charged your usual rate for your telephone or video chat session.

Once a week sessions are the standard for individual counseling, though clients are welcome to seek more frequent sessions if they are in crisis or want greater insight. Currently, I offer sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. As therapy progresses some people move from weekly sessions to bi-weekly. In order for us to do meaningful work, we have to have consistency in our meeting schedule. I want all of the time we spend together to be fruitful.

Weird. (and that’s okay).

For the first session I ask for you to arrive 15 minutes early to sign consent for therapy forms, HIPAA (privacy laws acknowledgement) paperwork, practice policies, and symptom measures. During your initial session, I will be asking you a lot of questions, to get to know more about you, any symptoms, why you are coming in, and your goals for therapy. This will help me to begin to understand your experience and what you desire from therapy. We will discuss your beliefs towards therapy and also how I view therapy. The first session is much more structured than the rest of our sessions will be.

There is plenty of hourly paid street parking on Chestnut St., Ludlow St., Market St. and on 37th st (between Chestnut st. and Sansom St.). There are also several parking decks near the office. In addition, my location is accessible by Trolley (36th street station, # 10, 11, 13, 34, 36) and the Frankford Street line’s 34th Market St. Stop.

My practice is not limited to just one method or approach. I tailor my therapy to meet the needs of each client and draw from various theoretical models including Psychodynamic, Relational, Multicultural-Feminist, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT).
